Wednesday, June 30, 2010
AFGE’s 2010 Hispanic Coalition (HISCO) Conference is being held September 5 - 8, 2010, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the Albuquerque Embassy Suites Hotel & Spa. The theme will again be "Diversity...A Leadership Opportunity”.
Join us in beautiful New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment, as we provide a forum to exchange ideas and share our cultural diversity. Together we will build on the success of the 2007 conference. The 2010 conference workshops will feature nationally renowned speakers and cover topics that will educate and enlighten AFGE activists on current trends in the Latino community. This year, HISCO will add the 1st Annual ADELANTE Awards, an awards program to recognize three persons who have demonstrated significant contributions or accomplishments in their communities, in their union, or in service to AFGE.
Some other exciting events planned for the conference include a welcome to New Mexico Mariachi Reception, salsa lessons, a documentary on Hispanic heroes in history, and a dinner banquet titled “Hispanic Contributions to Labor, the Cesar Chavez Legacy”. HISCO has invited the legendary labor leader Dolores Huerta to deliver the keynote address at the banquet.
Don’t miss this opportunity to support HISCO and participate in an informative and educational experience. On-time registration ends August 14, 2010. You have two options to register; (1) fill out a registration online or (2) mail in a paper registration. The preferred method of registration is online.
